Tony Templeman opened the doors of Advance Radiator in 1961, at a one-stall garage in Downey. Shortly thereafter, he began working on Air Conditioning as well. In 1980 he moved to their current location, adding two mechanics, Chris Bazen and Jose Toscano.  Jodi Young came in 2000 as their accountant.

In 2005 Tony decided it was time to sell the business. Chris, Jose and Jodi pulled together to purchase the business from him. Jose is fluent in Spanish, so if you would feel more comfortable speaking Spanish, that wouldn't be a problem.

We do not take appointments, but do our work on a first-come, first-serve basis, so it is a good idea to come early, or plan on dropping off your vehicle to pick up later. We don't intend to open up a chain, or become multi-millionaires. Our goal is to be your reliable, honest, hometown auto shop.

We are open Monday - Friday from 8 to 5. We are also open most Saturdays from 8 to 12 noon. There are some Saturdays we may decide not to come in, so please call first.
